liquid smooth- Mitski

to me this song is very much an anthem as I interpret it as the struggles and pressure go through in day to day life in our society as well. they have the pressure of constant changes and preferences from the men in our society. I also think that it conveys how women/girls can be sexualised and idolised for the tiniest things the do for example wearing skirts, glasses, dresses and other regular items. for me the song lyric 'I'm liquid smooth' could mean things like Botox, fillers or plastic surgery or things that help 'enhance' the so called beauty of the year, we are enhancing our bodies and our faces just to please men so they find us attracting so they can have a good looking partner while women change and cut things out just to be better for them.
one idea I had of how I could portray these lyrics in a music video could be a girl sitting at a vanity mirror applying makeup and doing her hair the camera will be showing her in the mirror so we are watching her in the mirror , her makeup will be very sublet and not very visible very much natural. but as the song goes on the the chorus is repeated the make up gets more and more bold and more crazy as she is trying to fit in with the society that is telling them to change and the more and more she doesn't fit in she starts to get more angry and frustrated that she end up screaming out of anger. she goes to bed and wake up late no time to do her makeup so she doesn't wear any and that is what gets everyone's attention 'natural beauty' every one wants to be natural and not over the top. to show her being really messed up and frustrated her desk and her room could be messy to show how her not being perfect is taking atoll on the life around her, as some people say a tidy room is a tidy mind so her mind is clearly extremely messy and has to many thoughts on being pretty and perfect

this is the type of shot that could be used when she is applying her make up through out the music video this is how me see her through the mirror. it how she wants us as the audience and the people she comes into contact with to see her … perfect well perfect in the 21st century's society perfect
